Bible Study: Persevering in Goodness

Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we faint not. (Galatians 6:9)
In our fast-paced world, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by the demands of life. The pressures of work, family, and social obligations can leave us exhausted, and at times, disheartened. We may find ourselves asking, “Is it worth it?” as we strive to do good in our communities, families, and workplaces. The Apostle Paul encourages us in Galatians 6:9 to persevere in our good deeds, reminding us that our efforts are not in vain.
Doing good often requires sacrifice. It might mean giving your time to help a neighbor in need or offering a listening ear to a friend going through a tough time. Perhaps it involves standing up for what is right in a situation where it would be easier to remain silent. Sometimes, the fruits of our labor seem distant or nonexistent, and we may wonder if we are making a difference at all. However, Paul assures us that in due season, we will reap the rewards of our persistence.
The phrase “in due season” is particularly significant. It reminds us that there is a divine timing to our efforts. We might want immediate results, but God’s timing is perfect. Just as a farmer does not expect to harvest the day after planting seeds, we too must be patient and trust the process. God sees our labor and our hearts. He knows the struggles we face and the strength it takes to continue doing good amidst adversity.
Consider the life of Jesus. Throughout His ministry, He faced opposition, rejection, and ultimately, crucifixion. Yet, He never grew weary of doing good. His compassion for others drove Him to heal the sick, feed the hungry, and provide hope to the hopeless. Even in His darkest moments, He remained committed to His mission. Because of His perseverance, we reap the eternal benefits of salvation and grace.
As you go about your day, find ways to do good, no matter how small. A kind word, a helping hand, or a simple smile can have a profound impact on someone’s life. Remember that your efforts contribute to a greater purpose, and God is watching over your faithfulness.
When you feel weary, turn to God in prayer. Ask for strength and encouragement. Surround yourself with fellow believers who can uplift you and remind you of the importance of your work. Let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we faint not.
Today, commit to persevere in doing good, knowing that your labor is not in vain. Trust in God’s timing and hold onto the hope that He has placed within you. The harvest is coming, and it will be worth it all.
