Who You Are in Christ
1. You Are His Child
John 1:12 – "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"
Commentary:
Becoming a child of God is not by natural birth, but by spiritual rebirth. This verse confirms that receiving Christ and believing on His name gives us the authority or right to be counted as God's children. This is an adoption into God's family by grace through faith.
2. You Are Born Again
John 3:3 – "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."
Commentary:
Jesus speaks to Nicodemus about a spiritual transformation, being born from above. This new birth comes through the Holy Spirit and is essential for salvation. It's not about religion or reform, but regeneration.
3. You Are a New Creature
2 Corinthians 5:17 – "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
Commentary:
The believer in Christ experiences a total inner transformation. The old life of sin and separation from God is gone. This doesn’t mean instant perfection, but a new direction, desires, and destiny.

4. You Are Accepted by God
Ephesians 1:6 – "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."
Commentary:
Through Christ, the “Beloved,” we are no longer strangers but accepted. This is not based on our merit, but entirely on God’s grace and Christ’s finished work on the cross.
5. You Possess Eternal Life
John 10:28 – "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."
Commentary:
Jesus, the Good Shepherd, promises eternal security to His sheep. Eternal life is not just a future hope, it’s a present possession of the believer. This life is unending and secured by Christ Himself.

6. You Are Reconciled to God
Romans 5:10 – "For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life."
Commentary:
Before salvation, we were God’s enemies by sin. Through Jesus’ death, we are brought back into right relationship with God. Reconciliation is a divine act of restoring peace and fellowship.
7. You Are at Peace with God
Philippians 4:7 – "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Commentary:
Not only do we have peace with God through justification (Romans 5:1), but also the peace of God that guards us. It transcends understanding because it doesn’t depend on circumstances but on Christ.
8. You Are Justified by Faith
Romans 5:1 – "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:"
Commentary:
Justification is a legal declaration that the believer is righteous in God’s sight. It’s not earned, it’s received by faith. The result is peace and assurance that we are no longer under condemnation.
9. You Are a Citizen of Heaven
Romans 3:20 – "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin."
Commentary:
Although this verse highlights the futility of law-based righteousness, it points to the need for citizenship that comes by faith and grace. Believers are no longer of this world (Philippians 3:20), but are citizens of the heavenly kingdom.
10. You Are a Co-Heir with Christ
Romans 8:17 – "And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together."
Commentary:
As God’s children, we share in the inheritance of Christ. This includes eternal life, glory, and kingdom responsibilities. Suffering may come, but so does future glory with Christ.
11. You Have Passed from Death to Life
John 5:24 – "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."
Commentary:
This is a definitive change in spiritual status. Believers are no longer under the sentence of spiritual death. They’ve crossed over into eternal life, already now, not just in the future.

12. The Holy Spirit Dwells Inside You
2 Timothy 1:14 – "That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us."
Commentary:
The indwelling of the Holy Spirit is the seal of salvation and the source of spiritual strength. He empowers, teaches, convicts, and sanctifies us. Every believer is a temple of the Holy Ghost (1 Corinthians 6:19).
13. You Are Forgiven of All Your Sins
Colossians 2:13 – "And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;"
Commentary:
Forgiveness is complete and comprehensive. Christ’s atonement didn’t just cover part of your sins, it paid for all trespasses: past, present, and future. This gives the believer confidence and freedom from guilt.
14. You Are Adopted into the Family of God
Galatians 4:5 – "To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons."
Commentary:
Through Christ’s redemptive work, we are not only pardoned, we are adopted. Adoption gives us all the rights and privileges of a child in God's household, including inheritance, intimacy, and identity.
15. Your Name is Written in the Book of Life
Philippians 4:3 – "And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life."
Commentary:
This book symbolizes eternal security and divine record. If your name is in the Book of Life, you are among those who will enter eternal fellowship with God. It confirms your place in heaven.
16. You Receive the Righteousness of Christ
Romans 3:22 – "Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:"
Commentary:
We have no righteousness of our own (Isaiah 64:6). The righteousness of Christ is imputed to us by faith. This is the essence of justification; we are clothed in Christ’s perfection, accepted before a holy God.
